Trash & Treasures Yard Sale! Join us the day before Father’s Day for a fun community sale at the Sweden Historical Society. Both SHS buildings will be open for visitors, and you’ll also find SHS merchandise available for purchase—perfect for gifts and history lovers.
Free space is available to Sweden residents who want to participate. A $20 fee for non residents to hire a display table and chairs. To book your participation, please email Doug Porter at mrdougporter@gmail.com
Ice Cream Social
celebrating the US Semiquincentennial

Celebrate the signing of the Declaration of Independence with an old‑fashioned ice cream social on the grounds of our historic blacksmith shop. Enjoy ice cream and toppings and tour the shop and schoolhouse. All ages are welcome; bring family and friends and stay for a visit in Sweden’s historic center.
The Declaration of Independence will be read at 2:00pm. We will encourage volunteers to read a part of the Declaration together with our members.
Please come and enjoy ice cream sundaes with all the toppings in celebration of our Nation’s birthday.

PRELIMINARY SCHEDULE
Thursday, August 6, 2026 – Opening Day Hike & Evening Social
Kick off Sweden Days with the Charles Bennett annual hike at 9:30am leaving from the Center Schoolhouse to Webber Pond Cemetery on the Old Selectman's Road. The hike will led by xxxx and Kay Lyman will lead a tour of Webber Cemetery.
The evening social starts at 5:30 TBC with the annual KPEPA pot luck supper with a speaker TBC. All welcome.
Friday, August 7, 2026 – Historic House Tour and Evening Talent Show
This years historic house is at the Flint / Bennett/ Zint home at 469 Bridgton Road, now owned by Susan and Rod Danielson . The House Tour costs $5.00 per person. You will be amazed at what you learn about these famous Sweden families. The evening talent show is a highlight the Sweden Days festival. Come and share your special talent, create a skit, or perform your music. To participate, please email info@swedenhistoricalsociety.org.
Saturday, August 8, 2026 – Sweden Days Festival and Contra-dance
Our busiest day of the celebration! Enjoy demonstrations and talks, relax with chair yoga, learn to paint in a guided class, savor local crafts and bakes for sale. The Sweden fire department turns on the grills for their famous BBQ. Get your dancing shoes on for the caller-led best contra dance in Western Maine.
Sunday, August 9, 2026 – Quiet Sunday & Closing Gathering
We close Sweden Days with a peaceful Sunday gathering at the Community Church.
